Like Watson Analytics, Calais Helps Businesses Connect The Dots
As of December 5, IBM launched the public beta of Watson Analytics. For those who are unfamiliar, this is one attempt by IBM to commercialize Watson by offering cloud-based predictive and analytics tools.
In reading about this new product, I can help but to think of our own Calais. Yes, in Watson Analytics, IBM is taking the taking the burden of forecasting off business executives’ shoulders, while we are bringing clarity and organization to unstructured text, but one theme runs constant in both products: we are both connecting dots.
By “dots” I mean the piles of data on which businesses are sitting. We are both leveraging the potential of this numerous, and often disparate, data by interconnecting it. While differences abound between the two products – including their purpose – this comparison rings true.
