About this role
Summary: This residency offers visiting scholars the opportunity to collaborate with AI Research Scientists and Engineers to develop augmented decision intelligence systems. Participants will engage in interdisciplinary research, design prototypes, and share insights on how AI can enhance human decision-making.
About Maincode
Maincode is an applied AI lab building systems that move humans forward.
We believe the next frontier of intelligence isn’t about automation. It’s about amplification. We're developing systems that help people make better decisions by reducing mental friction, surfacing relevant context, and offering meaningful, value-aligned choices.
We call this augmented decision intelligence. And it’s inherently multidisciplinary.
We bring together researchers from fields like neuroscience, systems engineering, linguistics, cognitive science, and design, united by a shared focus: building AI that collaborates with human judgement, rather than replacing it.
The Role: AI Research Residency – visiting scholar
This residency offers a unique opportunity for individuals deeply engaged in their respective fields to immerse themselves in AI research. As a visiting scholar at Maincode, you will collaborate within a research pod composed of AI Research Scientists, Systems Engineers, and Design Engineers. Together, you will explore how your domain expertise can inform and shape the development of AI systems that enhance human decision-making.
What You’ll Do
- Engage in interdisciplinary research projects that intersect your field of expertise with AI
- Collaborate with a diverse team to design, prototype, and evaluate AI systems
- Contribute to the development of systems that prioritise human agency and understanding
- Share insights through presentations, publications, or internal knowledge-sharing sessions
You Might Be a Fit If
- You have a strong academic background (PhD or equivalent experience) in a field such as neuroscience, linguistics, cognitive science, systems engineering, or related disciplines
- Your work has intersected with AI, machine learning, or computational modeling
- You are passionate about applying your expertise to real-world AI challenges
- You thrive in collaborative, interdisciplinary environments
- You are eager to explore how AI can augment human capabilities rather than replace them
How to Apply
To apply, please submit the following:
- Your CV
- A link to your Google Scholar profile or equivalent
- A one-page statement detailing your research interests, how they intersect with AI, and what you hope to achieve during the residency
We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and disciplines who are excited to contribute to the development of AI systems that move humans forward.
