We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Applied Researcher — Tech Lead to join our dynamic Generative AI team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), and Machine Learning. You will be responsible for leading and expanding a talented team of applied researchers and engineers with diverse skills to advance new capabilities and product experiences. The successful candidate will have experience in setting success metrics for cutting-edge research and innovation, ensuring their continuous integration into products while fostering team growth. This role requires a solid technical foundation, hands-on experience, people management skills, deep collaboration, and communication abilities, and the drive to deliver these innovations to our customers in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Linguistics, or a closely related field. A Ph.D. is preferred, but a Master’s degree combined with significant research experience will be considered.
Solid understanding of machine learning and NLP algorithms, neural model architecture, LLMs, training techniques, and building performant inference pipelines to tackle complex problems.
Previous experience hiring, coaching and developing world-class researchers and engineers, guiding them in their development
Tight-knit collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work optimally in a multidisciplinary team and influence outcomes.
Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen attention to detail.
4+ years of experience mentoring and managing applied researchers in teams delivering product capabilities
Track record shipping NLP products
Experience in ecommerce is a strong plus
