The eBay Advertising Team is reinventing Ads at eBay! We’re creating innovative ad-tech solutions to optimize the ad monetization and experience on eBay. Our goal is to create a valuable experience for both buyers and sellers, while also driving performance for advertisers.
As the Principal Applied Researcher in Generative AI, you will work with a team of researchers and engineers, and lead the research and development of applying Generative AI to build the next generation advertising products.
Responsibilities
Improve eBay sellers’ advertising campaigns performance through research and development in Generative Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning applications
Develop and train large scale Deep Learning models on distributed backends, and deploy neural architectures such as transformers efficiently on eBay inference stack
Work with ML researchers, software engineers, data scientists, business stakeholders to produce end-to-end production-ready solutions
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other team members, and help grow Applied Research team in eBay Amsterdam office

Qualifications:
Proven track record in applied ML research
Masters (PhD a plus) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics or related field. 7+ years of industry and tech lead experience
Strong technical knowledge and experience in Deep Learning, especially in Generative AI (GAN, GPT etc.)
Extensive experience with two or more of the following: Natural Language Processing and Large Language Models (LLMs), image and text understanding, recommendation systems, ads targeting and ranking systems or similar
Familiarity with Multi-modal ML, Graph ML and/or Reinforcement Learning is desirable
Publishing technical articles and speaking in Engineering / ML conferences is a plus
