Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Applied Researcher to join our dynamic Generative AI team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), and Machine Learning. You will be responsible for developing and implementing sophisticated deep learning models to further empowering our buyers and sellers. You will work closely with engineering and multi-functional NLP and platform engineers to create new capabilities from initial algorithms and out to features in our products and services.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct research on the latest technologies and methodologies in NLP, LLMs, and multimodal LLMs to drive innovation within the team and push the boundaries of what is possible.
Lead and significantly contribute to one or more technical areas of research in NLP to deliver high quality solutions for our customers.
Design, develop, and refine NLP applications and large language models, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and effective.
Collaborate closely with multi-functional teams, including Engineering, Product Management, Quality Assurance, and Operations, to integrate research outcomes into practical applications.
Maintain a high profile both internally and externally, sharing knowledge and findings through conferences, workshops, publications, and open-source contributions.
Cultivate partnerships with other research teams to create synergistic technologies that enhance overall product experiences.
Continuously monitor advancements in AI, LLM, NLP, and related fields to ensure the team remains at the cutting edge.

Qualifications:
Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Linguistics, or a closely related field. A Ph.D. is preferred, but a Master’s degree or equivalent experience combined with significant research experience will be considered.
Solid understanding of machine learning and NLP algorithms, neural model architecture, LLMs, training techniques, and building performant inference pipelines to tackle complex problems. Having experience with Multimodal Models is a plus.
Proven experience in leading substantial research projects with tangible outcomes in the form of products, services, or influential research publications.
Strong publication record in top-tier ML or NLP conferences (e.g., ACL, NeurIPS, EMNLP, ICML) is highly regarded.
Proficiency in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, and versatility in programming, with strong skills in Python and/or C/C++
Tight-knit collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work optimally in a multidisciplinary team and influence outcomes.
Analytical problem solver with excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen attention to detail.
Previous experience mentoring junior researchers or engineers, guiding them in their development and research projects.
