General Purpose

As a Senior Manager Data Foundation in the EU Digital Analytics team at adidas, you will be leading the team responsible for data engineering, data governance, data quality, data Ops on the Data Lakehouse, meant to support a wide range of analytics & data science capabilities through robust data foundation & prioritization of data related initiatives.
You will also support the analytics team fully transition from the legacy data platform planned until end of the year and be the first PoC for wider company initiatives that could have a data impact on EU data assets.
As team lead, you prioritize team initiatives in line with business priorities, team capacity and skillsets, fostering an environment of transparency, accountability, and continuous learning to drive outcomes.
While you are not expected to build data pipelines yourself, you need to have a good understanding of the workflow involved in this activity and be able to manage the team’s bandwidth on agreed & incoming priorities. You speak the language of data engineers & data product owners in your team and the language of analysts, data scientists and business stakeholders, steering towards clarification where needed and translating possibly vague requirements into technical requirements or follow-ups for the team.
The role requires significant communication and alignment with multiple teams, including the EU Digital Analytics team, rest of EU ecom, Global Digital Analytics and Global Data Domains, Platforms and Governance Team.
You will lead a team comprised of 5-7 team members out of which several would be directly reporting into you. Your team will be spread across both Gurgaon, India, and Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
You will be part of a highly engaged and multinational Analytics team, with the shared purpose of infusing data driven decision-making into the European ecommerce business, reporting directly to the Director Data, Marketing & Decision Science in Amsterdam.

Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the team creating and maintaining the EU Digital data assets and data pipelines in our Global Data Lakehouse. These data assets will be used by the EU Digital Analysts and Data Scientists to generate predictive models and business insights that help adidas understand consumer behavior, financial performance, and traffic performance to ultimately help drive sales. The data assets will also be used by other teams in EU eCom to run and support their processes (Finance, Supply Chain Management, Trading and Forecasting etc.)
Maintain trust in the Data assets through robust data quality frameworks, Service Level Agreements, Incident Management processes and collaboration with upstream teams (such as the Global Data Domains, Platforms and Governance Team).
You will be responsible for the Lakehouse budget of EU Digital data products, across estimation of yearly budget needed, internal coordination with controlling & Global Data Domains, Platforms and Governance Team, ensuring our owned assets remain within budget and any risks are surfaced to relevant stakeholders.
Manage team priorities through established processes like the quarterly planning cycle and the SCRUM sprint rituals. Continuously revise incoming requests and wider initiatives for their impact on our EU Data Assets in the Lakehouse, taking necessary steps to ensure data foundation relevancy for the business, data trust and accessibility, flagging risks and steering towards solution-oriented courses of action for risk mitigation.
Collaborate with the Global Data Domains, Platforms and Governance team to ensure the EU Data Foundation team is at the forefront of Lakehouse developments and can use the latest tools in terms of observability, data catalog, etc, actively giving feedback and input into the roadmap of the Global team who manages the Lakehouse as a platform and centralized data domains.

Hard-Skills
Experience with Databricks Lakehouse is preferred,
Fluent in English both verbally and written,
Experience with Atlassian Tools (JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket) is a plus,
Good high-level understanding of SQL, python, pyspark, AWS, and their role in the modern data stack,
Hands-on experience with developing data pipelines in Python/PySpark and/or Scala is a plus,
Experience in ETL tools (e.g. Alteryx, Bitbucket, GitHub, Databricks, Snowflake, Jenkins etc.) is a plus,
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, such as fact tables, views, star schemas, etc.,
Project management / SCRUM certifications are a plus.

Education & Professional Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Management, or similar field of study. A master’s degree is a plus,
At least 6 years’ experience in the data & analytics field, ideally in an agile environment (e.g. Scrum) working with multiple analytics/data science/business teams outside of direct influence,
Experience in managing data migration projects, data engineering/governance/solution architecture teams preferred,
Experience in managing agile teams in the data & analytics domain preferred,
Experience with Databricks Lakehouse, AWS, cloud migration, or data product management, is preferred,
Experience in an eCommerce environment is a plus.
