Overview
The Daidalos Project ( daidalos-projekt.de ) is building a research infrastructure that provides low-threshold access to digital literary research methods in classical philology. The goal is to enable anyone who wants to conduct digital research on Latin or Greek texts to conduct this research on their own corpus using the software.
Area of responsibility :
Scientific research services in the Daidalos project: “Development of an infrastructure for the use of natural language (NLP) processing for researchers in classical philology” (further information on the project can be found at https://daidalos-projekt.de/ ).
Subject-specific evaluation of the research tandems and the applied NLP methods
Collaboration on the frontend of the Daidalos platform, including content contributions and tests for user experience design
Organization, implementation, and securing of results of workshops for researchers in classical philology throughout Germany
Coordination and editorship of the project-specific open access anthology “Natural Language Processing in Classical Philological Literary Studies. Methods, Examples, Reflection.”
Planning and organization of an international conference on the use of NLP methods in literary studies (for modern and historical languages)
Expansion of the subject-specific community of practice, public relations
Project management tasks: billing, communication, etc.

Qualifications:
Completed academic university degree in a relevant subject/field
Solid knowledge of Latin (Latinum level) and/or ancient Greek (Graecum level), experience with ancient literature is an advantage
Profound experience in project management (including project management software, e.g. OpenProject)
Good knowledge of the following areas: data formats (JSON, XML, CSV), markup (MD, HTML, CSS), Jupyter Notebooks, statistical applications (LimeSurvey, R, SPSS, etc.) and quantitative data analysis
Knowledge of UX design (user-oriented software development, agility, testing procedures) and open science and open source is an advantage
In-depth knowledge of common office software (Office, Excel, email client, etc.)
urgently desired: publication experience, experience with editorial work and proofreading
Desired: Experience in digital humanities, community work; willingness to travel nationally, undertake IT training, and familiarize yourself with natural language processing methods for literary studies
Language requirements:
Proficiency in written and spoken German at native speaker level, at least C2
very good English skills, at least B2

Master Degree
