The role: Machine Learning Engineer

Join our team dedicated to the end-to-end delivery and support of British Airways’ machine-learning… products. Our department plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and robust operation of these products, contributing significantly to the airline’s success in today’s data-driven world.

What you’ll do:
• Build and optimise machine-learning products to ensure consistent high-quality output and efficiency in delivery. Optimise data pipelines to maintain integrity and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists and Engineers to transition existing machine-learning products into production.
• Manage the lifecycle of specific machine-learning products, ensuring their continued effectiveness.
• Utilise good project and time management practices within self-tasking agile scrum teams, prioritising time-to-value.
• Adhere to established frameworks, including release cycles and architectural principles, while participating in peer review processes.
• Effectively communicate with stakeholders, challenging and influencing decisions when necessary, while maintaining positive relationships.
• Share best practices and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
• Stay updated with advancements in machine learning practices.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant IAG IT and British Airways data security policies and protocols.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:
• Proficiency in data manipulation and data science, with experience in languages such as Python or R. Ability to use SQL for querying and prototyping new metrics.
• Experience implementing machine-learning products in cloud environments, particularly AWS.
• Strong communication skills, capable of presenting complex issues to large groups and influencing decision-making.
• Effective portfolio management skills, with the ability to prioritise and deliver projects in a timely manner.
• Collaboration skills, actively contributing to team dynamics and incorporating feedback from others.
• Willingness to proactively share knowledge with the business and the analyst community.

Your experience:
• A numeric degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Sciences, or equivalent (Desirable).
• Expertise in Big Data technologies such as S3/Hadoop, Spark, Hive, etc. (Desirable).
• Proficiency in using cloud-based infrastructure and PaaS services, with a preference for AWS (Preferred).
• Familiarity with Linux server/container usage (Desirable).
