Our client, a forward-thinking technology firm at the forefront of artificial intelligence development, is seeking a highly experienced Lead AI Ethicist & Governance Specialist to join their fully remote team. This pivotal role is designed to shape and implement responsible AI practices across the organization, ensuring that our AI solutions are developed and deployed ethically, fairly, and transparently. Responsibilities will include developing and refining the organization’s AI ethics framework, guidelines, and policies in alignment with evolving global regulations and best practices. You will lead cross-functional teams in conducting ethical risk assessments for new AI initiatives, identifying potential biases, fairness issues, privacy concerns, and societal impacts. The Lead AI Ethicist & Governance Specialist will design and implement governance structures and processes to ensure accountability and compliance in AI development and deployment lifecycles. This includes establishing mechanisms for ongoing monitoring, auditing, and reporting on AI systems’ ethical performance. You will also be instrumental in fostering an ethical AI culture through training, education, and awareness programs for employees at all levels. Furthermore, you will represent the company in industry forums, engage with regulators and policymakers, and contribute to thought leadership in the field of AI ethics.

Qualifications include a Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant field such as AI Ethics, Philosophy, Law, Computer Science with an ethics specialization, or a related interdisciplinary area. A minimum of 7 years of experience in AI ethics, responsible AI, AI governance, or a closely related field is essential. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing ethical frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and governance structures for AI systems is required. A strong understanding of AI technologies, machine learning principles, and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) is crucial. Excellent analytical, communication, and advocacy skills are paramount, with the ability to articulate complex ethical concepts to diverse audiences. Proven experience in leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders at various organizational levels is expected.
