Overview

We seek a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow with a strong track record in NLP. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate broad knowledge of deep neural architectures as applied to core NLP tasks. The position presupposes a PhD degree or equivalent in Natural Language Processing, or in Computer Science with a clearly NLP-based thesis.

The focus of the position is on post-training and alignment of generative LLMs for lower-resource languages, including both data creation and model fine-tuning.

The work will be performed in close collaboration with the industry partners in the centre and has as its main goal to contribute to more responsible media technology in Norway. Expected outputs of the work include publication of high impact papers, demos with code repositories and novel types of data and insights, e.g., in the form of reports both for academia and industry partners in the centre.

The candidate will also perform secondments at the industry partners.

The candidate is required to submit a PostDoc plan within 3 months after the start of the position together with the WP leadership and user partners.

The candidate will be supervised by the work package leadership in MediaFutures . The position is located in the Language Technology Group (LTG) at the University of Oslo. LTG is an international and diverse group, where current prominent research activities include semantic parsing, event extraction, sentiment analysis, as well as training and benchmarking of large language models. While the research profile of the group is heavily machine-learning oriented, our projects typically combine data-driven approaches with an interest for linguistic analysis and insight. The group has access to excellent HPC infrastructure.
