UCD School of Computer Science

University College, Dublin

The UCD School of Computer Science offers several MA/MSc degrees in Cognitive Science, and the institution also focuses on research in the field of Language and Cognition, which – according to the website – includes finding out more about “speech synthesis, language transition and text understanding.”

The Unit for Natural Language Processing

National University of Ireland, Galway

The Insight Centre for Data Analytics, Europe’s largest research centre in data science, has a group in Natural Language Processing (UNLP) at the National University of Ireland Galway. Their areas of research range from Knowledge Extraction to Data Linking, Social Media Mining and Legal Text Analytics. The group is also responsible for the Natural Language Processing module of the MSc in Data Analytics program at the National University of Ireland Galway. UNLP regularly offers internship, PhD, postdoctoral, and research assistant positions. More information about the unit can be found here, and on available positions here

ADAPT Center

The ADAPT Centre brings together leading NLP research experts from four Irish-based universities: Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University, University College Dublin and the Dublin Institute of Technology. Dublin Institute of Technology

The Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) offers many opportunities for NLP-related education, including options for part-time studies. Find more information for prospective students here. At the time of writing, Dr. John Kelleher is in charge of Natural Language Processing at the Centre for Applied Data Analytics (CeADAR).

Trinity College

The Trinity College Dublin offers a Masters in Speech and Language Processing co-ordinated by Dr. Gessica De Angelis; options are available to undertake this study part-time or full-time over the course of one year or two. Find their full course outline on the Trinity College website here.

The Artificial Intelligence Association of Ireland (AIAI)

The Artificial Intelligence Association of Ireland (AIAI) is the place to go for keeping your finger on the pulse of AI research.
