Your task will be to investigate and implement innovative algorithms for the extraction of non-verbal communication information from video using face and, possibly, gesture information. Applicants are expected to have finished, or be about to finish their Ph.D degree in Computer Science / Image Analysis or similar. We expect solid English skills and a strong background in computer vision / machine learning. The position will require both research and development; therefore excellent programming skills are required (in C/C++ and Matlab). Previous experience on R&D or technology transfer projects will be highly valued. Immediate availability is required.
This position is framed within the Kristina project (http://kristina-project.eu/en/). Kristina is an EU funded research project, which aims at researching and developing technologies for a human-like socially competent and communicative agent that is run on mobile communication devices and that serves for migrants with language and cultural barriers in the host country. While this position is hosted by the CMTECH group at the Department of Information and Communication Technologies, UPF-Barcelona (http://cmtech.upf.edu/), intense collaboration with project partners is expected.
