Who are we looking for? It may be you, if you answer “yes” to the following questions.
Do you have a Master’s Degree in a quantitative field (like Business Analytics, Statistics, Applied Math, Physics, Econometrics, Marketing Research, or Operations Research ) and at least 5 years of experience in a data science related role?
Are you a systematic thinker who can provide analytic and algorithmic solutions to complex business problems?
Do you have a deep and thorough knowledge of both statistics and of the mathematical underpinnings and implementation of modern machine learning methods?
Do you have a keen eye for detail and for the thoughtful investigation of data before relying on it for model or algorithm development?
Do you have a knack for finding the right modeling solution for a given business problem, balancing model complexity and accuracy while considering the infrastructure and deployment tradeoffs needed to fulfill client requirements?
Do you have direct experience with developing machine learning solutions at scale from inception to completion?
Who are we?
The Machine Learning and Advanced Modeling (MLAM) team lives within the Enterprise Analytics team at Chick-fil-A. The MLAM team partners closely with our Information Technology department to build and deploy scalable solutions to some of the hardest analytical problems. We also explore and prototype new analytics and algorithmic methodologies and applications in anticipation of future business needs. Finally, we work to empower the broader analyst community at Chick-fil-A to investigate data with confidence by articulating and demonstrating data science best practice.
The Data Scientist role is focused on developing and deploying analytic models and algorithmic solutions to meet the needs of the organization. The Data Scientist will be responsible for leading and executing complex, technical project work, often as a part of a larger cross-functional team and often in support of more than one line of business simultaneously. The Data Scientist in this role will work with wide latitude for action and decision making on project related work and outcomes. We also anticipate that the person in this role may sometimes represent the Enterprise Analytics team in outside conversation or in technical forums and may assist with the selection or oversight of outside partners.
Responsible for designing, building, and interpreting algorithms and models that leverage or empower enterprise data products
Works closely with IT to design and implement algorithms and models through a variety of cloud-based deployment patterns
Acts as a single-point-of-contact on select projects as per the Enterprise Analytics engagement model
Designs custom cloud compute patterns to fulfill a wide variety of project requirements
Works to improve the application and rigor of statistical and machine learning methodology leveraged by the team
Responsible for defining and implementing data science best practice
Analyzes data and develops models, algorithms, and/or simulations for complex business problems
Performs statistical analysis to establish causal relationships between drivers and outcomes
Develops and manages ETL pipelines in support of specific modeling project work
Develops and manages models, workflows, and/or code in support of specific modeling project work
Owns and is accountable for model and code quality and documentation
Performs ad-hoc analysis as necessary to support specific project work
Drives projects to success, enables others to perform at their best, and owns the impact of project work on the fulfillment of client needs and expectations
Given the role’s complexity and scope it will require a diverse skillset and advanced knowledge in blending machine learning, statistical model development, algorithm design, and cloud compute architecture management. The Data Scientist will need the ability to quickly develop mastery of subject areas across multiple lines of business. It is important that the person filling this role be a team player who contributes to the culture, well-being, and success of the MLAM team, Enterprise Analytics, and the larger Chick-fil-A organization.
