As Senior Leader of Software Development for Amazon’s Localization Platform, you will be leading a strategically important set of services depended on by every Amazon business around the world, including Kindle, Amazon’s AppStore, AWS, Amazon’s retail web sites, and Amazon’s subsidiaries.

You will be responsible for leading a large engineering and product team, designing, architecting and developing high impact tier1 website dependent services as well as widely used internally facing tools. You will own the business and contractual relationships with external vendors of translation technology and services. You will partner with business, legal and technical leadership across the company in initiating, prioritizing, owning and driving the vision, strategy, product roadmap and technical deliverables that will allow Amazon to Improve speed, volume and quality of translations to and from every language.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing a multi-functional, multi-site software development organization, including development managers, software engineers, project & product managers, and NLP Machine Learning specialists to ship both front-end customer-facing features and large scale backend services. You will recruit and develop high-caliber leaders and individuals in multiple locales. You will have proven analytical, strategic, technical and program management success.

Specific Responsibilities Include The Following

Grow a team of engineers into a highly performing development team
Define and drive the long term product strategy
Architect and deliver a next-generation localization platform to help solve Amazon’s unique localization challenges
Fully manage the development lifecycle and deliver the product roadmap within an Agile/Scrum environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
+ years of software development experience
+ years of people management experience including managing managers
Proficiency in at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as Java, C++ or C#
Strong knowledge of CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithm design and complexity analysis
Experience with large scale systems and service-oriented architecture
Strong leadership, project planning and execution skills
Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels
