Overview

We are looking for an excellent researcher with the ability to effectively contribute to a large, multi-site research project. You will apply techniques from Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing to develop an automated career coach. The coach will provide personalised advice on improving digital skills by analysing career goals and recommending suitable training. You will be part of the Institute of Coding (https://instituteofcoding.org/), an exciting new initiative that brings together a range of universities, industry, training providers and professional bodies to address the UK’s digital skills gaps. You will collaborate with other Institute of Coding partners that are also contributing to the automated career coach, including the University of Exeter and IBM.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will hold a degree in Computer Science (or related subject) and, ideally, a PhD on a relevant topic. Experience of carrying out research in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and/or Recommender Systems is essential. Strong coding skills are also required and, in addition, experience of developing large-scale software systems is desirable.
