We will help our customer accelerate the delivery AI-enabled capabilities, scale Department-wide impact of AI, and synchronize AI activities to expand customer advantages. Our team will enable the DoD to seamlessly build, deploy, and operate machine learning solutions for DoD-level problems. ? Redhorse Corporation is currently seeking a Head of Machine Learning (ML) who will join our team and act as the senior technical leader for ML in the first National-Level AI effort of its kind.? The ideal candidate for this position will play a major role in setting the technical vision, goals and technical road maps for this new program.? The initial work location for this position is in the National Capital Region (NCR).? There is potential for a relocation of this position during the period of performance to a city outside of the NCR. ? Duties and Responsibilities * Develop, provide technical leadership on, and ensure success in the form of scalable production ML systems that address National Mission Initiatives. This includes open missions that are executed in partnership with academic institutions, industry, other government agencies, and allies and partners to domestically produce inspiring, societally-beneficial AI technology * Be the champion for machine learning in DoD and raise the standard of technical excellence and operational understanding in this area throughout the Department via individual mentorship and broad initiatives * Be a thought leader and voice for AI and related technologies and topics in the US and around the world, including on matters such as their impact to society. Challenge leadership across DoD to be bold and make big moves to improve overall technical excellence, evangelize our technology vision, and call upon academia and the private sector to partner on missions vital to national security * Attract world-class engineering, research, and product talent to DoD and play a central role in building a culture and organization in which they can thrive

Minimum Basic Requirements for Skills, Experience, Education and Credentials * Master of Science Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required at a minimum; candidates with a Ph. D.? are highly preferred * 6+ years of relevant research or engineering work experience and 4+ years of hands-on technical leadership or academic leadership experience * Internationally recognized expertise in at least 1-2 AI specialties (e.g., NLP, deep learning, Bayesian networks) where you can teach/develop others. Excellence in relevant research as evidenced by publications in top ranked field relevant journals, a research pipeline that is at high international levels, awards and accolades, or presentations at significant conferences * Proven technical leadership on developing highly-scalable production machine learning systems and shipping several large scale projects with multiple dependencies across teams * Exceptional architecture abilities and experience with architectural patterns of large, high-scale enterprise applications, including management of upstream and downstream dependencies and an ability to understand technical designs, challenges, trade-offs, and risks * Proven track record of hiring and coaching world class AI researchers and back-end engineers and independently starting self-sustaining teams * Demonstrated success building buy-in for an innovative and bold vision, ability to influence and motivate people across a broad variety of job functions through your relationships * Outstanding interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Able to deliver complex content in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner to multiple audiences, including government officials, business and nonprofit leaders, journalists, and researchers (e.g., members of the AI technical community) * Interest or experience in applying machine learning to resource-constrained or communications-constrained devices * Ability to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance up to the Top Secret SCI level ? Additional Preferred Skills, Experience, Educations and Credentials * Experience as a professor of Computer Science with experience leading large, complex technology projects or CTO/SVP/VP/Director of Engineering roles at cloud-hosted infrastructure companies or consumer technology companies * Experience building across both user facing product (web, mobile) and deep online/offline infrastructure
