The German Institute for International Educational Research (DIPF) is a
national centre for education-al research and educational information;
it is jointly funded by the federal government and the federal states.
DIPF is a member of the Leibniz Association operating from locations
in Frankfurt am Main and Berlin, with around 300 employees.

Become part of the successful team of the Information Center for
Education at DIPF. The Information Center for Education is the central
provider and innovator of IT-based information services in education
in Germany. We offer international visible information platforms and
technical tools for research and practice – e.g. the German Education
Portal, the German Education Server, the Research Data Centre for
Education and the TBA Centre. We are a key player in digital education
in Germany.

To information-technologically develop our services further and
sustainably coordinate IT-related tasks, we are seeking to employ a

Head of Computer Science in Education

(permanent, full time, salary based on EG 15 TV-H*)
for our location in Frankfurt am Main.

Your tasks:

• Coordination and management of the IT team at the Information
Center for Education (IZB), ca. 20 members of staff at locations
in Frankfurt am Main and Berlin, focusing on software development,
data management, development of portals and assessment
• Conceptual development, provision and maintenance of digital
research and information infra-structures and software provided
by IZB
• Conceptual and technical implementation of the IZB Open Science
strategy
• Cooperation and collaboration with our partner institutes in
Germany and Europe
• Budget planning, management of IT team regarding human resources
and technical matters

Qualifications:

Requirements:
• A university degree that is above average in Computer Science or
comparable subjects (preferably a doctoral degree)
• Research experience in Information Retrieval, Data Science,
Semantic Web or a field that is rele-vant to Open Science
developments
• Sound knowledge and experience regarding complex, networked
research and information infra-structures at a national as
well as an international level
• Sound knowledge and experience in the area of setting up and
running science research and i-formation infrastructures
• Demonstrated leadership skills and practical experience in
human resource management and management of teams
• Practical experience in project acquisition and budget planning
• Very good German and English language skills, written and spoken

Preferably, candidates should have:
• knowledge and experience in the field of educational technology
or computer science in education
• knowledge and experience in negotiating with, and coordinating,
external software providers
• knowledge and experience in negotiating and managing
internal/external customer orders
