Overview

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager/Product Owner to join our team supporting the integration of data science methodologies such as natural language processing and machine learning into services and products for cancer research. In this position, you will be responsible for driving and defining the launch of new products and services to support a variety of Fred Hutch cancer research endeavors. You should have a solid grasp on data analytics, software development strategy, natural language processing (NLP), and Agile methodologies in order to deliver high-quality software to accelerate cancer research.

Responsibilities

-Align engineering and research projects with broader organization goals. Communicate the big picture, how specific projects fit in, and their status and impact to a variety of stakeholders across the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center and its Cancer Consortium Partners.
-Scope out and drive focused NLP and machine learning projects to develop cancer research capabilities.
-Inspire R&D teams, set measurable goals, and facilitate urgency and creativity. Keep the teams focused on creating value for our researchers and releasing impactful features.
-For each project, define what success means, develop metrics, analyze impact and user feedback, and communicate the outcomes, learnings, and next steps to the broader organization.
-Work with the teams to maintain and prioritize backlogs. Be part of team ceremonies, understand progress and challenges, provide input from the product perspective, and help remove any obstacles. Maintain clarity and momentum in the process.
-Stay up-to-date with the evolving data science landscape in commercial and academic domains.
-Consolidate data into user stories and necessary product requirements.
-Develop a solution plan which includes recommendation to either build, buy, or partner for solutions.
-Regularly present feature demos at sprint reviews/sprint bazaars to solicit feedback.
-Work with end-users to manage expectations, answer questions, triage support tickets, and document and prioritize new feature requests.
-Ensure that product documents, samples, demos, and other user readiness materials are complete.
Qualifications

-Bachelor’s (BA or BS) in life sciences, computer science, or related field; Advanced degree preferred.
-Experience with clinical or unstructured data.
-5-7 yrs. previous experience as a product manager, product owner, data scientist, business analyst, or in a related field.
-Experience with NLP or Machine Learning technologies
-Able to build strong interpersonal relationships with product team, strategic partners, leadership, senior management, and internal and external stakeholders.
